It was his choice to move and I for one think Merrick used him enough. I got the impression that he was a bit of a lone ranger playing for himself at times and sulking when being subbed is not good for any player. Although he is a fan favourite I think he was expendable. Hopefully he performs in the ACL when picked. He will be missed but I don’t think he is irreplaceable.
