Melbourne Victory vs Newcastle Jets: 1-1

Pedestrian. Lethargic. Boring.

A shade over 15,000 came out to watch 90 minutes of the dullest football I’ve ever seen at the Dome. It all went wrong about three minutes in when Billy Celeski went down and stayed down. No Celeski. No Hernandez. The only bright spark for me was Matthew Kemp, who was in fine form after a couple weeks away. And Archie’s goal was nice.

But beyond that, this was a night to forget about.

Celeski gone for the season with an ACL

Allsopp requested a trade to Kuwait and was knocked back, in dispute with club, not turning up to match (Laughably described by the club as a hamstring, Ernie as a thigh – but even injured players attend all matches – no sign of Danny)

Broxham and Brebner are like a mobile phone in the Simpson Desert – no service to anyone

I’m quite happy to offer the $4.50 to anyone who wants us for champions.

I hate odd seasons.

I wouldn’t call it boring, for 98% of the game we had control and the lead. They got lucky on a hopeful cross. I wonder what this blog would be saying had we held on for the 1 bill win?? I doubt you would be so negative then.

Hard to find many positives from the game. Kemp and Sukrah played well, Vargas won everything in the air, but no real cohesion in mid-field, no idea in the front third, Ward plays like a wuss and avoids contact and tackles at all costs and could someone please grab Fabiano by the shirt and tell him to stay on his f&#%ing feet!!! He should be taking the game time he has had as an opportunity to shine but instead it’s embarrassing how he just wants to fall over at the earliest opportunity and the referees won’t buy it (thank goodness).

i thought the state of the pitch contributed to the poor standard. Can’t wait for the new stadium to open

Pico, I would still have considered it a dull match. Sure, my mood would have been a fair bit more positive — obviously — but that doesn’t negate the fact that, for the most part, it was a fairly dreadful spectacle.
